UKSecurityJobs was not built in a tech incubator by people who have never worked a door or managed a security contract. It was built by someone who has — and who got tired of watching a professional industry being let down by a broken recruitment process.
The founder of UKSecurityJobs began his career in the British military before entering the UK security industry in 1995 — starting on the ground floor with Pinkertons Security and progressing through every operational and management level to Director positions at national and international security companies. He has also founded and operated his own security businesses.
That career spans the introduction of SIA licensing, the rise of the internet job board, the decline of industry-specific recruitment platforms, and thirty years of watching the same avoidable problem repeat itself: good employers wasting time on unsuitable candidates, and good officers waiting too long to be placed in the right role.
The industry changed. The recruitment process largely did not.
Generic job boards — Indeed, Reed, Totaljobs — were never built for the licensed security sector. They have no mechanism to verify an SIA licence, no understanding of BS7858 vetting requirements, no way to filter by licence type, and no interest in the professional standards the industry is supposed to uphold. The result is hundreds of unsuitable applications for every genuine vacancy, and a vetting process that starts from scratch every single time.
UKSecurityJobs exists to fix that.
Our founder's career began in the British military before transitioning into the UK private security industry in 1995. Over three decades he has worked in and led security operations across retail, corporate, events, close protection and national contract environments — and has represented the industry in direct dialogue with the SIA at a strategic level.
His frustration with the state of security recruitment is not theoretical. It is the product of thirty years watching talented, licensed professionals underserved by platforms built for a different industry, and security companies haemorrhaging time and money on recruitment processes that should have been solved a decade ago.
UKSecurityJobs is independently owned and operated by Digital Software Group Ltd, registered in England and Wales. There are no investors to answer to, no volume targets, and no incentive to compromise on quality in favour of revenue. The platform will be policed accordingly.
Every candidate's SIA licence is checked against the public register before their profile goes live. No licence, no access. Simple.
Candidates complete a full BS7858-ready profile — 5-year address history, full employment history, reference contacts — before they can apply for a single role.
Incomplete profiles cannot apply. Candidates who accept an interview and do not attend without good reason are banned — three strikes and they are off the platform permanently.
Candidates are prepared before every interview — document checklist, scenario-based written assessment, and a video screening to confirm communication skills. Employers know what they are getting before they pick up the phone.
We check in on every placement one month after they start. Feedback from both candidate and employer. We step in if something is not right. This is not a transaction — it is a professional relationship.
Verified candidates gain access to exclusive discounts and benefits from partner brands — a genuine investment in the professionals who maintain the standards this industry is supposed to uphold.
UKSecurityJobs is not only for experienced officers. We provide honest, accurate information for anyone considering a career in the UK licensed security industry — what the work actually involves, what licences you need, how to find a reputable training provider, and how to avoid the companies that will sign you up on zero hours and leave you there.
The industry needs good people. If you are willing to work to the standard this platform requires, we will support you from your first licence to your first role and beyond.
Find Out More →UKSecurityJobs handles some of the most sensitive personal data in the employment sector — SIA licence details, full address histories and employment records. We take that responsibility seriously.
Data is stored in the European Union in compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Sensitive fields are encrypted at the field level — meaning even within our own infrastructure, the raw values of SIA licence numbers are never stored in plain text.
Authentication is handled by an industry-leading provider with multi-factor authentication, session management and bot protection built in. Passwords are never stored by us.
The platform sits behind enterprise-grade security infrastructure including DDoS protection, a web application firewall and bot management. All data in transit is encrypted.
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and are actively pursuing Cyber Essentials certification. A formal penetration test will be commissioned prior to full public launch.
